Addressing Vaccine Hesitancy With Community-Specific Messaging Across Illinois

ICAAP needed a way to address vaccine hesitancy across Illinois in a way that met families where they were, respecting concerns, building trust, and encouraging informed decision-making. After dividing the state into “health zones” and conducting needs assessments for each, ICAAP turned to Ocreative to develop customized, approachable, and educational social media campaigns that could resonate with each region’s unique needs.

Using Toolkits and Trusted Voices to Amplify Outreach Across Illinois

We transformed ICAAP’s zone-specific insights into tailored campaigns designed for Facebook and Instagram. Each campaign combined friendly, easy-to-read messaging with visuals that reflected the expanded ICAAP brand palette.

Key steps included:

  • Hyper-Targeted Messaging: Created unique social content for each health zone based on regional attitudes, concerns, and barriers to vaccination.
  • Strengths-Based Communication: Focused on positive, educational messages instead of combative or fear-based approaches, making content more shareable and engaging.
  • Toolkits for Amplification: Developed ready-to-use posting kits for schools and healthcare providers so trusted local voices could easily share content, amplifying reach and credibility.
  • Signature Campaign Style: Established a consistent visual identity with colorways assigned to each campaign topic, setting the foundation for ICAAP’s future social outreach.
  • Dedicated Resource Hub: Built a landing page to host all campaign materials, giving any Illinois school or clinic instant access to high-quality vaccine communication resources.

We have worked with O-Creative since 2021. During this time, we have partnered to revamp our website; rebrand and update our logo; launch multiple multi-media campaigns for the general public and pediatric clinicians; create clinical resources, toolkits and manuals; and complete large-scale education and outreach projects around a variety of health topics including mental health, immunizations, firearm safety, oral health, literacy, adverse childhood experiences, and more. Throughout each project, the O-Creative team has delivered exceptional work from concept through execution. They have helped us navigate rapidly changing environments with ease, adapting visuals and messaging that resonated across both clinical audiences and the general public. Their ability to synthesize feedback, maintain timelines, and elevate our brand and children’s health has exceeded expectations. We appreciated their collaborative approach, strategic thinking, and deep attention to detail. I highly recommend their services for any organization seeking thoughtful and expert design and media support.
