Combating Vaccine Hesitancy With Accessible, Science-Backed Materials

With additional state funding and a growing need to combat vaccine hesitancy, Immunize Wisconsin partnered with Ocreative to develop a strategic, science-backed outreach campaign that could drive vaccination across Wisconsin’s diverse communities.

The challenge? Creating a comprehensive campaign of outreach materials that were:

  • Evergreen and adaptable as vaccine guidance evolved
  • Easy for local partners to use and co-brand
  • Translated for accessibility across multiple populations
  • Visually engaging and evidence-based

The ultimate goal was to empower clinicians, immunization champions, and public health systems with plug-and-play outreach tools that could make a measurable impact, quickly, accurately, and inclusively.

Designing an Outreach System Centered on Accessibility, Trust, and Cultural Relevance

Ocreative developed a full-scale communications campaign, complete with digital assets, print-ready materials, social media content, and translated resources in Spanish, Somali, and Hmong. Our strategy centered on three pillars:

1. Accessibility & Adaptability

We created co-brandable templates, allowing organizations across the state to add their logos and distribute materials under their own banner, extending reach while maintaining trust.

2. Cultural & Linguistic Relevance

We worked with vetted healthcare experts to develop plain-language, culturally appropriate patient-facing materials and translated them for the most spoken non-English languages in Wisconsin: Spanish, Hmong, and Somali.

3. Unified Messaging, Targeted Tools

Each asset was tailored for a specific audience, pediatricians, pregnant people, community leaders, caregivers, and the general public, with a consistent, science-backed voice. We developed messaging toolkits, social campaigns, flyers, posters, postcards, and a central digital library to keep everything accessible.

Key Campaign Components Included:

  • A Landing Page:A centralized, public-facing hub for vaccine outreach resources
  • Resource Toolkits for Providers & Clinicians:Including a Misinformation Toolkit and Vaccine Dosing Charts
  • Flyers & Posters:Covering everything from seasonal safety to vaccine FAQs
  • Direct Mail:Postcards supporting themes like Trusted Voices and Stronger Families
  • Social Campaigns:Ready-to-use sets of social graphics and copy, themed by season or topic
  • Translations:Core materials translated into Spanish, Hmong, and Somali
  • Co-brandable Downloads:Editable versions of all evergreen materials for broader use

THE RESULTS

The campaign launched a high-impact, high-access library of science-backed tools that are being used currently to support vaccine conversations across the state, including:

  • Co-branded materials downloaded and used by clinics, schools, and health departments
  • Materials adopted and distributed at statewide conferences and partner events
  • Campaign assets approved and supported by state health authorities and aligned with CDC messaging
  • A fully stocked resource library that will continue to evolve as recommendations change

By addressing the full spectrum of outreach including print, digital, social, multilingual, and co-branded, we helped Immunize Wisconsin build a toolkit for change, built on facts, trust, and real community voices.

I have worked with Ocreative for more than a decade with excellent results across projects – website, direct mail, digital media, and more. Their team is honest, talented, fun to work with, fair and respectful. They are quick to respond, able to adapt, and skilled at involving a variety of people in diverse organizational roles to ensure the best possible collaboration. No question is too small or too large. Yes, they are an award-winning agency (including with some of our projects!), and yes, their portfolio is amazing – but they succeed beyond measure because of their people and their approach toward their clients. We simply wouldn’t choose any other partner for creative projects.
